2021 End of Year Campaign

Dear Supporters of Rancho Compasión,

As 2021 draws to a close, we want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in making  this another great year at Rancho Compasión. We’ve continued to provide the best care for our animal family here at Rancho and to spread compassion in our communities near and far.

We can’t do this without your generous support, and hope you will consider a special donation to Rancho. Thanks to the generous support of several of our Board and Advisory Board members, we can offer a $4700 match of donations made through the end of 2021!

Like all of you, we’ve had to learn to adapt to life in the pandemic, as the need to scoop the poop and deal with veterinary emergencies has not altered. The year started with a health scare for our little goat with a cleft-palate, Madeline, with two stints at the UC Davis Vet. Hospital and a long residency as a house goat. We were so worried, but Madeleine has such a headstrong spirit and will to live that we gave her every chance possible. If you’ve been to Rancho recently, you’ve likely seen her famous attitude and would never be able to tell how scary things were less than a year ago.

Just as health needs haven’t changed, there continue to be many animals in need of rescue. We have limited capacity, but take in new animals as we’re able. This year we welcomed famous duck couple Ebony & Ivory, crippled rooster Goldie, sheep Pepper & Ollie, and a yet-to-be-named duck.

This year we re-opened the sanctuary to public and private tours, hosting 224 visitors, to share our animals’ stories and animal agriculture education. Stay tuned for news about our exciting new program for young people that serves as a sort of alternative to programs like 4-H and FFA!

And we won’t even try to calculate how many pounds of poop we’ve scooped, food we’ve fed, and medications administered over the past year. All of this has happened with your donations and the help of over 100 volunteers, including 16 who commit to coming out every single week!

All of this is only possible with your generous support! Please consider a donation below, on Venmo or through a social media fundraiser.

With compassion and gratitude, and hopes for a healthy and happy 2022,

Miyoko Schinner and the Rancho Compasión Board of Directors
