We Finally Got a Truck . . . and a Grant from AmericanTrucks!

Last year, we parted with our yellow F150 due to a bad transmission, so we’ve been on the lookout for an affordable truck. We asked all of you to do so, as well, and one generous donor even offered to help buy a truck for us! The last couple of months we’ve had leads on trucks but they all turned out to be kind of sketchy…until last weekend, we happened to spot this 2005 F250 4x4 in a high school parking lot with a For Sale sign on it. Could it be…?!

When we pulled up to it, we saw it only had 42k miles and was in great condition! This was the perfect truck for us!

Our Board members immediately called the seller, and a couple days later she was ours! They were so happy it was going to a good home, that we were even outbid by two others!

Having our own truck is empowering—it means we can actually tow our trailer now in case we have an animal emergency or hospital visit. Or pick up materials for construction projects. Or huge loads of feed. It means we aren’t dependent on others to borrow their cars. It means we can help other animals in need. And because it’s a Ford, we know it’s built to last. We can’t wait to finally put our logo and “rescued animals on board” signage all over it!

And on top of receiving the amazing truck, we also received a $250 grant from AmericanTrucks’ Positive Payload Program!

Thank you to all who have helped make this possible. This is a new chapter for us. 💛
